5 Reason why Entertainers need pictures in their career

Most people in the entertainment world thinks photographs are majorly for such entertainment fields as modelling and fashion design. This misconception has led to criticism to one or group of persons who loves the art of photography for fun. “You sef you too like pictures o” they mostly say.

The actual essence of photography in the entertainment world, as at now is underutilized. Entertainers hardly take part in photo sessions, promo pictures are materials that are seen once in a blue moon, those who manage to book photo sessions only do when they want to release a new song; of which only one or at most 2 would  be utilized for cover art.

The flaws in the above paragraph cuts across every aspect of entertainment but it is dominant among musicians. It is so sad to note that only a few entertainers understand the importance of having fresh photographs as public figures that they are.

In this article, i shall in a sharp 5 points, outline the importance of photos in one’s entertainment career, irrespective of the area of professionalism.

1. PHOTOS CAN SERVE AS PUBLICITY MEDIA FOR THE ARTISTE

The industry nowadays appreciates professionalism in the quality of pictures an entertainer dishes out. Gone are the days when the only output from a musician or comedian is music or comedy skit respectively. These days, photos can be used as a prerequisite to the release of Entertainment materials.

2. PHOTOS TELLS ABOUT ONE’S BRAND AT A GLANCE

One reason why Instagram seems to be doing well is the fact that Pictures speak in volume. Like the saying goes “A picture is worth more than a thousand words”. The pictures you feed your fans is what they see about you. Feed them mediocre and watch them see and tell mediocre about your brand and vice versa.

3. BILLED FOR AN EVENT? YOU NEED PHOTOS

Often times, event organizers find it difficult to get photos of billed entertainers because they find less pictures to play with. I was blogging about a popular Port Harcourt based Nigerian musician (name withheld), it was very difficult to get a good picture of him on the web (even on his various social media accounts), so I sort for an alternative.

4. PHOTOS HELP FOR EASY IDENTIFICATION

I’ve seen artistes with popular materials that get harassed by bouncers, force men and others because they were unable to identify them due to the fact that they’ve got no face. By “no face” I mean lack of visual identification. The photos one puts out there goes a long way to give one a face. Too bad, so many entertainers find it irrelevant.

5. PHOTOS HELP KEEP MEMORIES ALIVE

Do you think the way you were last year is how you are today? Definitely NO!

People do change with time, their looks in term of hairstyle, growth and maturity to mention but a few. It is the pictures of you that keeps the memory alive. Pictures are worth saving for posterity sake.

With all these said, I hope entertainers change their perspective of pictures and take advantage of the benefits attached to pictures.
