Nigerians Spend N602.6 Billion on Airtime in 5 Months

Nigerians reportedly spent N602.6 billion on
airtime for their phones between January and May
2014, according to New Telegraph.




The figure was derived by analysis of the the
subscriber data released monthly by the Nigerian
Communications Commission (NCC), and the
current industry’s Average Revenue Per User
(ARPU) provided by telecoms operators.
With 57.2 million telephone users on its network,
MTN currently has the largest subscriber base
and revenue generation of all the networks in the
country.
Airtel Nigeria comes in second with 25.5 million;
Globacom is third with 23.4 million, and Etisalat
is 4th, with 18.5 million users on its network.
The aforementioned ranking is based on data
released in March.
